Flood

Flood 024

June 7, 2008 we all woke after it rained all night long to find that we were surrounded by water.  All of us.  All over our communities in Terre Haute, Brazil, Clinton, Prairie Creek.  I watched the news obsessively, compulsively to see that people were being evacuated, homes destroyed, cars under water, devastated.  I went down to mom and dad’s house, because they are out of town, and I found their lake was in their yard.  The lake has never come over its banks before.

The water is receding, and my family and our homes are safe, but it is not so fortunate for my neighbors.  I know that co-workers, friends from church, and others are suffering and haven’t yet started to grasp the effects of the flooding.  I pray for them, and I pray that our compassion would be given hands and feet to share with those who are hurting.
